Nelson Hernandez

Nelson Hernandez is an Articling Student at Unified Immigration Lawyers PC. A former paralegal, he brings hands-on experience with a range of Canadian immigration matters, including complex files involving previous refusals and inadmissibility concerns. Nelson serves clients in both English and Spanish.

His experience includes:

• Temporary Residence: Study permits and work permits, including applications with previous refusals and/or inadmissibility concerns.

• Family Sponsorship: Spousal sponsorship applications (common law and same sex relationships), including cases involving criminal inadmissibility concerns.

• Citizenship: Canadian citizenship applications, including cases involving criminal prohibitions.

• Complex Matters: Supporting the firm’s lawyers on complex files, including judicial reviews and procedural fairness responses.

After earning his paralegal diploma in 2016, Nelson began his legal career at a paralegal firm that primarily handled immigration matters. Following five years of legal experience, he returned to school in 2022 and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa in 2025.

Nelson is passionate about helping families reunite in Canada and supporting individuals as they pursue new opportunities. His years as a paralegal gave him a practical understanding of the immigration process and of the importance of clear, thorough, and client-focused support.
