Biography

Natalie Domazet is a Partner at Unified Immigration Lawyers PC. Her practice covers all areas of Canadian immigration and refugee law, with a focus on complex litigation, inadmissibility, and removal matters.

Natalie brings a perspective few immigration lawyers can offer. Before entering private practice, she spent more than ten years with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), working in both port of entry and enforcement divisions. In her final role, she served as counsel for the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration and the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness before the Immigration and Refugee Board, handling admissibility hearings, immigration appeals, and detention reviews. Having argued on behalf of the government, she understands how enforcement cases are built and uses that insight to advocate for her clients.

Natalie regularly represents clients in:

  • Federal Court: Judicial reviews, including mandamus and stay motions.
  • Immigration and Refugee Board: Appeals, admissibility hearings, and refugee claims.

She also advises and assists on a wide range of matters, including:

  • Inadmissibility: Complex inadmissibility matters and strategies for overcoming inadmissibility, including temporary resident permits, criminal rehabilitation, and authorizations to return to Canada.
  • Remaining in Canada: Pre-removal risk assessments and humanitarian and compassionate applications.
  • Temporary and Permanent Residence: Sponsorships, work permits, study permits, and visitor visas.
  • Citizenship: Citizenship applications and related matters.

Natalie takes a thoughtful, compassionate, and client-centered approach, guiding clients through high-stakes proceedings with a clear understanding of how personal and stressful immigration matters can be.

Natalie holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in History and Political Science from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Birmingham. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2012. Prior to joining the firm, she practiced at Mamann Sandaluk LLP for five years.

Beyond her practice, Natalie is an adjunct instructor and coordinating instructor in the Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law program at Queen’s University.
