Biography

Clarissa Ratjen is an Immigration Lawyer at Unified Immigration Lawyers PC, where she assists clients with a wide range of Canadian immigration matters. Her work frequently involves complex files, including inadmissibility concerns, previous refusals, and prolonged processing delays. Clarissa serves clients in both English and German.

Her practice includes:

  • Residence & Citizenship: Temporary and permanent residence applications, citizenship applications, and humanitarian and compassionate applications, including applications following previous refusals.
  • Business Immigration: Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) applications and LMIA-based and LMIA-exempt work permits.
  • Study Permits: Study permit applications, including for students with one or more previous refusals.
  • Inadmissibility: Matters involving inadmissibility, including criminal rehabilitation applications.
  • Litigation: Judicial review applications at the Federal Court challenging refusals, and mandamus applications for clients facing unreasonable processing delays.

Clarissa understands how stressful and uncertain the immigration process can feel, particularly when a matter has already been refused or delayed. She strives to give clients as much information as possible, so they understand their options and can make informed decisions at every stage.

Clarissa holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology from Queen’s University. During law school, she worked in the Refugee and Immigration Division at Downtown Legal Services at the University of Toronto, where she assisted with several constitutional challenges to immigration provisions at the Federal Court.
