How to choose

Not sure which category applies?

There are many ways you can immigrate or sponsor family to immigrate to Canada. Contact us today for help finding the right program.

If you are a professional or have experience working in Canada or in a skilled trade...

The Federal Skilled Worker, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trade would be the right programs for you.  If you would like to work in a specific province in Canada, you may be eligible to apply under a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). All of these programs can be applied for through Express Entry which has short processing times of only 6 months.

If you would you like to live in Quebec...

There are several programs that you can apply under depending on your situation. If you are a professional, skilled worker, have work experience in Quebec, or a student in Quebec, you can apply under the Quebec Skilled Worker and Quebec Experience Class (PEQ). If you don’t speak French, but have some management experience, you can apply under the Business Investor Class.

If you self-employed or want to start a business...

The Self-Employed category and Start-up Visa would be for you. Each province has its own business and entrepreneur immigration stream through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

If you have family living in Canada or overseas...

You can sponsor them under the Family Class Sponsorship. This would include a spouse or common-law partner, child, parent or grandparent, or other family member, including adopted children.

Why Us

Why Choose Unified Immigration Lawyers.

Choosing the right lawyer is a big decision, and one you want to get right. While all lawyers must meet certain professional standards, not all law firms are the same.

Built for appeals

We regularly appear before the IRB and the Federal Court on refused and complex files, so we know how to build a strong case.

Truly cross-border

Licensed in Canada and the United States. One firm for both sides of the border, with no handoffs.

Flat, transparent fees

Quoted upfront at your consultation. No hidden fees and no hourly surprises.

Direct counsel

From your first consultation you work with a licensed lawyer, never a sales rep, and you stay informed throughout.

Hard cases welcome

Refusals, inadmissibility and complex corporate mobility are our focus, not the files we turn away.

Stress-free

Hiring a lawyer dramatically decreases your chances of denial — so you can focus on your life, not your file.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions.
How much does a Canadian immigration lawyer cost?

The cost of a Canadian immigration lawyer depends on the type of service required, the complexity of the case, and whether the matter involves an application, an appeal, or litigation. A straightforward application review will generally involve different legal fees than responding to an inadmissibility allegation or pursuing judicial review in the Federal Court.

Unified Immigration Lawyers will explain the proposed scope of work and fees before beginning a matter, including what work is included, whether the fee is fixed or hourly, and what additional expenses may apply.

You should consider hiring a Canadian immigration lawyer when you are uncertain about your eligibility, have received conflicting advice, or face an issue that could affect your ability to enter or remain in Canada. Legal guidance may be particularly valuable when your matter involves a previous refusal, inadmissibility, complex family circumstances, a Procedural Fairness Letter, a removal order, or a deadline for an appeal or judicial review.

You can also consult our lawyers before applying. Early advice may help you choose a more suitable pathway, identify weaknesses in the application, and avoid mistakes that become more difficult to correct later.

Legal representation can help you understand the reasons for the refusal, applicable deadlines, available evidence, and whether an appeal or another legal remedy may be available. Our Canadian immigration lawyers can review a refused application, explain why the decision was made, and identify which remedies may be available. Depending on the circumstances, the appropriate response may be to correct the issues and reapply, request reconsideration, pursue an appeal where the law provides one, or seek leave and judicial review in the Federal Court.

Please note that not every refusal can be appealed, and some legal options have short deadlines. Obtaining advice promptly can help preserve the remedies that may still be available. Where a statutory right of appeal exists, the matter may be heard by the Immigration Appeal Division. Other refusals may require a different response, such as reapplying, requesting reconsideration, or seeking judicial review.

The main difference between a Canadian immigration lawyer and an immigration consultant is their professional training, regulator, and scope of legal practice. A provincial or territorial law society licenses lawyers, while immigration consultants must be licensed by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants. In Ontario, lawyers must be licensed members in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.

Both may assist with many immigration and citizenship applications. Immigration lawyers can also provide legal representation in Federal Court and advise on litigation, judicial review, and other complex legal issues. Before hiring any paid representative, confirm that they are authorized and in good standing with their regulator.

A Canadian immigration lawyer can represent a client in an immigration matter before the Federal Court. This often involves applying for leave and judicial review of a decision made by an immigration officer or tribunal. A judicial review is not a new immigration application or a complete rehearing of the case. The Court considers whether the decision was legally reasonable and procedurally fair. Because strict filing deadlines can apply, you should seek legal advice quickly after receiving the decision.
